out in the summer, when the sun fries the land and boils the sea. comes an old man sits on his chair under a tree while drinking a cup of cold tea. he was roughly in his late 70s, wearing nothing more than just light brown shorts, thick chocolate jacket, and a green shirt with a sunset image on it. it hide his withered body with the exception of his arms and knees.

then 3 kids at the same grade, 3rd grade that is, came rushing towards to the withered old man.
"hey gramps! could you tell us your great story about the tug of war with a kronosaurus!" shouted a small boy with short cut hair.
"you mean Chrome the kronosaurus, that pilosaur was huge!!" yelled a girl with a short ponytail.
"is that actually true gramps? come on, after today we're leaing" said a boy with glasses.

"well fine Dominic, Stella, and Job, but yes that was true, as i Antonio sadly come in with empty hands..." was his response.
"what about i tell you the whole story?"
then they all shouted "YES!!!"

and so the story began.....

it all started in the midst of Spring months. January i suppose. i was one of the locals, i Antonio was actually stuck in the hole of poverty as i need a golden ladder to get out of it.

the village was rather small, but the view was great. all those singing Tupandactylus, and Tropenagthus being colorful as ever. they're getting ready to have kids. migration was about to start.

so as the other fisherman stay as safe possible in their feeding grounds, i went away and follow the pterosaurs as they are sure sign for big things. before i left the others always calling me crazy.
"yo! you must be crazy man! i know you're old as that tree but this is just ridiculous!!"
"ya know, you're risking your life and limb... several people tried fishing with these weak boats out on those seas and ended up missing..."
and the voices go on...
i wasn't selfish, i was doing it to survive like all of us. the problem is that we're all afraid. so i bring my small boat with an old rotor out to the open seas....
i always heard stories about Chrome, that darn devil always steals our biggest catch. even in our fishing zones some have reported that they have a half of a tuna! a tuna i tell you!!

as much as i was in the 60s i still swung the bait into the water after i found my spot, the great big blue. The pterosaus began to dive and catch fish and otehr alike, some even did not catch any fish. i envy and feel empathy for those fuzzy divers. one particular splash onto the side of my boat i cursed.
then the Pterosaur shakes the pycnofibres splattering water over me, so i yelled.
"GO AWAY TO BAT-PELICANS YOU'RE SCARING THE FISH AWAY!!! SHOOO!!!"

and so i waited as the Pterosaurs continues to dive...
dive...
dive...
dive...
AH!!!! it feels like i'm going to be insane then the string of my rod began to pull....

i quickly try to reel it in but it felt heavy, it was a big one!
"wow i did not expect this catch from a poor mans bait!"
so it was a tug of war...
a pull and let go multiple times
zzzring goes the string of the rod..
and i reel it back with my normal hand..
zzring again...
reel it back again....
and again.
and again.
up until my hands are red....
as much as i already feel some pain in my palms i began to see a fin. a very large fin...
it was a fin of a tail. the head started to show some of its green eyes. then i began to see a hard beak?teeth? i don't know. whatever i name it dunkle...
"woah dunkle... easy there... you're quite a challenger for a small one? are ya?"
my hands started to get darker in the shade of red as reel the fish in and out again.
finally the fish had lost the game. i was able to reel it back for big money..

as i saw color it was clear. it was a juvenile dunkleosteus tired now remain motionless. then the waves started to get larger. as i slowly reel the prize to my boat then i felt a short sudden pull on my rod...
then it pulled the rod fully. my trophy was gone!!! i am gonna lose my house!. so i fight it again.
the same events repeated but with a sudden twist. it felt not like a fish at all through out the fight. as i saw a head thrashing the waters with loud sounds of splash! and sploosh!
it was clear when the colors show it was chrome. and he or she was winning.
every splash and sploosh came after again and again, then.... SNAP!! came from the end of the rod...
it was all calm and peaceful that was until i was shock from what i'ved got as a reward from that sea devil.
it was only the head of the dunkle filled with the large teeth of chrome, i bet he or she is an adult. so out of exhaustion i had to came back to the village.
it was evening and i came in with despair. i was gonna lose my house anyway but as the villagers see the evidence of my battle, they praise my bravery despite my loss.
and so thats the story...

"so thats sad..." said Dominic.
"i'm truly sorry" said Stella.
"we can make it up to you... we can let you stay in our house if you want.."  said Job.
"nah... is okay besides just let me relax here and lie down and enjoy the scenery available besides sooner or later i am turning to stone" was my respond before i went back to sleeping under a tree in the summer haze.
you could see that's inspired by the old man and the sea :)
but this is all for fun and writing practice
after all it is a piece of art..

My word, I read this novel recently! Even better, I imagined a similar scenario (but with an old man fishing for an ichthyosaur instead). I'm so glad you brought this to life.
